The light is built into the handle
At the heart of the XLumen is the lighting system, which Bishop has integrated directly into a specially developed aluminum handle. An LED ring with a diffuser distributes light evenly across the work area and reduces harsh shadows and glare. The result is where the concept truly proves itself in everyday use: You can see lines, gradients, and details without the shadow of your hand, without a headlamp on your head, and without an external light that constantly needs to be readjusted.
With four built-in modes, you can adjust the light to suit your surroundings and subject: warm light in two settings, cool light in two settings. You can switch modes directly on the Advanced battery with the push of a button; holding the button down turns the LED off completely.
Tried-and-true technology, now with visibility
While the light is new, everything that makes the Power Wand what it is remains unchanged. Inside, it’s powered by the same German Faulhaber motor that has made the Power Wand one of the most respected cordless tools in the industry: smooth, consistent, and reliable. Added to this is the new Advanced battery with a TFT color display and customizable firmware, which gives you full control over the settings while maintaining the familiar Power Wand workflow.
To make room for the light, the handle diameter has increased from 31 mm to 37 mm. This ensures a comfortable, secure grip during long sessions while also accommodating the LED ring without compromising the tool’s balance.
Which Model for Which Technique
The XLumen is available in three versions with a fixed stroke, tailored to specific techniques.
- Shader, 3.5 mm: brushed Faulhaber motor with built-in give for a soft touch. The choice for black-and-gray, realistic gray gradients, and fine line work.
- Packer, 4.2 mm: brushless Faulhaber motor with more torque and power. The all-rounder for lines, color packing, and bold work, which can be operated softly or with force depending on the voltage.
- Liner, 5.0 mm: Brushless Faulhaber motor, designed for torque and speed. For bold, opaque outlines in a single stroke.
