And what does all that mean? - We’ll explain it to you:
SPF 30 = Sun Protection Factor 30
SPF 30 = Sun Protection Factor 30
SSF 30 = Sun Protection Factor 30
(so it’s all the same)
This indicates how much longer you can stay in the sun with this factor compared to your skin’s natural protection.
With SPF 30, you can enjoy the sun 30 times longer.
Your natural protection lasts between 5 and 90 minutes, which is why reapplying sunscreen after 2 hours is always recommended.
Here’s how to calculate it:
If you can normally spend 10 minutes in direct midday sun without getting sunburned, with SPF 30 you can stay in the sun 30 times longer—that is, 300 minutes.
However, if you have very fair skin, with light/reddish hair and lots of freckles, the maximum is 125 minutes.
In addition, the skin loses its protection after every contact with water or after excessive sweating.
UVA/UVB = Ultraviolet Light/Rays
UVA rays reach us all year round and penetrate very deeply into our skin .
Over time, this triggers oxidative stress in our bodies.
This damages our DNA, causes skin aging, and, unfortunately, can lead to cancer.
UVB rays are particularly dangerous in the summer and around noon (when the sun is at its highest) .
Although they primarily remain on the skin’s surface, they can also cause cancer .
Above all, however, these rays cause tanning or redness (sunburn) and pigment spots or disorders.
Water-resistant:
Even after 2 x 20 minutes of swimming or bathing, at least 50% of the original sun protection remains.
With non-water-resistant sunscreens, you must reapply after every contact with water.
A huge advantage.
