And what does all this mean? - We'll explain it to you:
SPF 50 = Sun Protection Factor 50
SPF 50 = Sun Protection Factor 50
SSF 50 = Sun Protection Factor 50
(so they are both the same thing)
This tells you how much longer you can be in the sun with this factor than with your body's own skin protection.
With SPF/SPF 50 you can therefore enjoy the sun 50 times longer.
The self-protection time is between 5 and 90 minutes and it is therefore always advisable to reapply after 2 hours .
This is how you work it out:
If you can normally be in the direct midday sun for 10 minutes without getting sunburnt, you can be in the sun 50 times longer with SPF 50, i.e. 500 minutes.
However, if you are a very light skin type, with light/reddish hair and lots of freckles, then the maximum is 250 minutes.
The skin also loses its protection after any contact with water or excessive sweating.
UVA/UVB = ultraviolet light/rays
UVA rays reach us all year round and penetrate very deeply into our skin .
In the long term, they trigger oxidative stress in our body.
This damages our DNA, causes skin ageing and unfortunately also cancer .
UVB rays are particularly dangerous in summer and during the midday phase (peak of the sun) .
Although they primarily remain on the surface of the skin, they can also cause cancer .
Above all, however, these rays cause tanning or redness (sunburn) and pigmentation spots or disorders .
