Usage

Vaseline is the standard lubricant for tattooing:
A thin film reduces friction between the needle and the skin, keeps excess ink from clumping, and can be wiped away during the session without causing the lines to disappear—this ensures the tattoo design remains visible throughout the session.
The 5-g packet is usually sufficient for one session with a client.
Tear open, remove the contents, and discard after the session.

Why individual packets instead of a jar?

The main issue is hygiene. From an open jar, ink is taken multiple times throughout the day, often with the glove that was previously on the client—that’s the classic route for cross-contamination.
In some EU countries, Vaseline tins are therefore already prohibited in tattoo studios.
A sealed 5-g packet per client avoids this problem and can be clearly tracked during a hygiene inspection.
Anyone who continues to use the jar should at least use only a disposable wooden spatula to scoop out the product.

Composition and Skin

The formula is intentionally simple: Paraffinum Liquidum, Microcrystalline Wax, and Paraffin—no fragrances, no preservatives, which are the most common irritants.
This makes it suitable even for customers with sensitive skin.
Vaseline is occlusive, meaning it forms a protective film on the skin and does not absorb into it.

Limitations and Distinctions

This Vaseline is a lubricant for use on clients, not an aftercare product.
For wound care after piercing, use an aftercare cream designed for that purpose, not plain Vaseline.
The product is paraffin/petroleum-based; those who prefer plant-based alternatives in their studio should take this into account when making a selection. For external use only; avoid contact with the eyes.

FAQ

What is Vaseline used for when tattooing?
As a lubricating film during the tattooing process: It reduces needle friction, keeps excess ink from clumping, and helps the lines remain visible when wiping.

Why individual packets and not the jar?
For hygiene reasons. The single-use packet prevents multiple dips into an open jar and thus eliminates the risk of cross-contamination.

Is Vaseline suitable for sensitive skin?
Yes. It contains no fragrances or preservatives, which are common irritants.

Is a 5-g packet enough?
It’s usually enough for one session with a client.

Is this a product for aftercare?
No. It’s a lubricant for use during the tattooing process. An aftercare cream is intended for aftercare.

What’s in it?
Paraffinum Liquidum, Microcrystalline Wax, Paraffin—nothing else.
